Initial Trip Information Meeting for next trip (6th U.A.): Oct 2012

Next Caribbean Meeting: July TBA, 2012

The Ultimate Advneture to the British Virgin Islands (BVI) is approximately two weeks of sailing in one of the best sailing locations on Earth. We charter a 50' sailing yacht from The Moorings and sail to the various islands of the BVI.

To qualify for the Ultimate Adventure, interested persons must pass both land and ocean tests on their sailing knowledge and abilities. We designed the trip and the training to provide each person with all they knowledge they need to sail the boat themselves.

A few notes on equipment: please don't forget to pack sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat. It is a constant 85°, with approximately 70% humidity. There is also a lot of glare from both the boat and the water. Getting a burn the first couple of days could make for a painful trip.

Also, don't forget to bring your snorkeling gear. We suggest you buy at least the mask and snorkel. Even though all of these are available on the boat, having your own makes it a much nicer experience (especially if you wear glasses). Ask any of our Caribbean veterans for some advice.

Below is our 2012 Itinerary. We will be making one major change for our 2012 trip: we will be sailing to Anegada. This coral atoll, at most 28 feet above the surface and surrounded by coral reef, is located 15 miles off the coast of Virgin Gorda, making it beyond the visible horizon. However, the rewards for this extra bit of sailing are immense. Some of the best snorkeling grounds in the world, with over 300 ship wrecks and miles of reefs. And, the exquisite Anegada lobster dinner.

We are working on a map with links to our stops. We suggest using Wikipedia to locate the islands and Google Maps in hybrid or satellite mode to find our position. Hopefully for the next trip we will have wireless Internet access for daily updates.
