Camp Three Falls is located in Los Padres National Forest at the base of Mount Pinos in the northern section of Ventura County. It is approximately 50 miles north of the Castaic Junction (Magic Mountain). The Camp is named for the three waterfalls running in the mountains near camp: North Falls, Middle Falls, and Bitter Falls. Camp Three Falls sits at an elevation of 5,400 feet surrounded by beautiful scenary of pinion pine trees, chaparral, and sage.
The focus on the weekend is basic Scout skills and advancement. For our new Scouts and Scouters, this will be their first outdoor experience with Troop 29. For our experienced Scouts and Scouters, it is the chance to pass on what you have learned during your time in Troop 29. We will be using the weekend to teach the basics of both Scouting and camping the Troop 29 way, as well as lots of advancement (and fun!).
Food will be cooked by patrol, with each patrol responsible for buying and cooking their own meals. Patrols should plan on serving Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner on Saturday and Breakfast on Sunday. All adults and any guests also eat as a patrol headed by our Program Advisors in The Dult's (our adult patrol). Please eat dinner before you arrive on Friday.
A Suggested Pack List is available, as is a list of the Ten Essentials.
Be sure and stay up to date on the weather (set to Frazier Park on weather.com). The weather forecast will be set for the nearest city, and will not take into account mountain conditions. Also, be advised that the trail camp could be in a river valley so effective sunset will be earlier and effective sunrise will be later. This also means it will get dark (and cold) earlier as well as warm up later.
