"THE TEN ESSENTIALS"

ORIGNAL VERSION BY: GEORGE WIGER
LAST REVISION BY: ROBERT McCLURE
LAST REVISION DATE: 7/15/2000

THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND THIS LIST IS A SMALL KIT WITH THE NECESSARY ITEMS IF YOU BECOME LOST OR ENCOUNTER SOME OTHER OUTDOOR EMERGENCY OR SURVIVAL SITUATION. THESE ITEMS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL OUTINGS (BE THEY BACKPACKING OR NOT) AND SHOULD BE KEPT IN ONE AREA OR BAG (EXCEPT FOR THE WATER) WITHIN EASY REACH. SOME OF THESE ITEMS ARE DUPLICATED ON THE STANDARD PACKING LISTS. JUST REMEMBER THERE IS A GOOD REASON FOR EVERYTHING WE LIST AND IF IT IS DOUBLE LISTED IT MUST BE IMPORTANT. THIS LIST WILL CHANGE SO BE ALERT AS TO IMPROVEMENTS, OR SUGGEST SOME OF YOUR OWN.

ROBERTíS NOTE: I KEEP THESE IN A STUFF SACK THAT CAN DOUBLE AS EITHER A PILLOW OR BEAR BAG.
