Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast will be cooked by patrol as if it were a regular car camp. Your patrol will decide how to handle Saturday lunch. You MUST eat breakfast BEFORE you arrive at the Church. Any trail snacks you wish to bring are also your own responsibility.
There will be a pack check on Thursday, September 18th at 7:00pm. All Scouts are required to bring their backpacks fully packed to be checked by our experienced backpackers. This is for two reasons. One, to ensure each person is carrying the proper gear. And second, to distribute Troop or Patrol gear that needs to be carried. Any perishable foods should NOT be packed until Saturday. Water bottles should also be brought with you on Saturday. If you are missing anything, we will let you know. Please be sure and have it for Saturday.
A Suggested Pack List is available (also in printer-friendly PDF format), as is a list of the 10 Essentials. The Essentials are REQUIRED to be brought to every outing, but most importantly on this one. The reason for even having a 10 Essentials list is outings just like this one. Count on having your Essentials carefully checked at the pack check (and again on Saturday if necessary). And also remember not to over pack, be sure you really need something before you decide to bring it.
Be sure and stay up to date on the weather. The weather forecast will be set for the nearest city, and will not take into account mountain conditions. Also, be advised that the trail camp is in a river valley so effective sunset will be earlier and effective sunrise will be later. This also means it will get dark (and cold) earlier as well as warm up later.
