NOTES

*All personal gear should be packed in a duffel bag.

*Full Scout Uniform (except Merit Badge sash) will be brought and worn at Breakfast and Dinner (or you will not eat). These are camp rules and are non-negotiable.

*Uniform of the day will be Troop T-shirt with shorts of your choice and white socks.

*Bringing your own mountain bike is a privilege that Mataguay allows each of us. The camp is fairly large, and a bike can seriously cut down on travel time. However, as with any privilege, it can be taken away should you fail to wear your helmet or otherwise act unbecoming a Scout and member of Troop 29.

*Count on washing clothes at least twice during the week.

*Mataguay can be quite dusty, so it is recommended you bring Kleenex with you. The low humidity, combined with the dust, can often give people bloody noses. The small personal packs of Kleenex usually work very well.

*The temperature ranges from as high as the 100's during the day to the 60's at night, though the humidity is usually close to zero. A wide range of clothing is helpful, should it get cold or unusually rainy (it is a desert, and it has done that before). Always dress using the layer system (ask if you don't know what this is).

*With the high temperatures, it is essential you drink plenty of water. With the low humidity, you will not seem to sweat very much, nor will you realize you are dehydrating. Water bottles are required, though the camp has placed many drinking fountains around the property. Soda does NOT replace water; rather it normally continues to dehydrate you.
