****---NEWS & NOTES---****

*All personal gear should be packed in a duffel bag. This makes it much easier to stow gears in cars.

*Full Scout Uniform is NOT to be brought as it is of no use on regular outings.

*With the high temperatures it is essential you drink water whenever you have the chance. The daytime temperature will be high and we will not hesitate to sit down any scout who might not be drinking enough water. Soda does not replace water, it further dehydrates you.

*Rock climbing and rappelling is hard on the body and the clothing. I recommend a good pair of jeans or camouflage (BDU) pants. Shorts may be worn, but I recommend pants to avoid scrapped knees. Also, a good pair of gloves is required (the heavy duty work type). The Troop has gloves if you don’t. A hat is an absolute must. You may want to bring your bike helmet for rappelling, as all Scouts are required to wear a helmet while climbing and rappelling.

*A good jacket is needed, as it can get windy at night. While it may not be too cold, the wind chill can eat away at you.

*Pack your flashlight near the top of your bag or bring it with you in the car. We will arrive well after dark and it is VERY dark out there. Do yourself a favor and have some light at your disposal.
