Celebration!
Arranged by James Curnow

Randall Coleman, Director

On November 16, 1991 the life of Mark Nanny, a promising young musician and leader, was needlessly taken when he was killed by a drunk driver. At seventeen, and a high school senior, Mark had developed not only as a leader but also as a budding conductor. Mark's parents wanted to commission a piece of music that would be a celebration of life not a eulogy of his death. James Curnow has fashioned an arrangement based upon Saint-Saens Symphony in C Minor (The Organ Symphony) as this was Mark's favorite classical composition. His fellow students wanted the piece to reflect Mark's personality; that is spirited, intense, exciting, thoughtful, bold and bright. This piece dances with life and excitement!
