1. Home team will be decided by the flipping of a coin before the
match. Home team will have the choice
of serve or side.
2. Serving area: A server may serve from anywhere behind the end lines. Server may not step onto the court until the ball has been served.
2a. At Oak on the side of the court that has the bleachers on it the server may step over the serving line when serving.
3. Court play:
3a. At the time of the serve all players (except server) must be on the court.
3b. A back row player may not play the ball above the top plane of the net in front off ten-foot line.
3c. An exception to this applies when a back row player assists in blocking , he or she may leave the ground in front of the ten-foot line for the purpose of blocking only.
4. Bumping: It is not mandatory for any
division to bump the
ball on the serve.
5. Substitutions: A team may use the “person for person” or “rotation" substitution method. In both cases teams must substitute “ Male for Male and Female for Female ” A team's selection must be made prior to each game and the referee notified.
5a. If a team starts a match with less than six (6) players and other players arrive they may be inserted into a games when ready. The rotation of a game in progress can not be changed - 10 Jan 2005
5b. If a player is inserted to an unoccupied spot on the court after play has begun a timeout is charged. More than one player can be added at the same time and only one timeout charged. If play is resumed and a point or sideout is recorded and a second player arrives if that player inserted into a unoccupied spot on the court a second timeout is charged. Additional players may be added to the rotation, or use of substitution, at anytime without charge of a timeout. - 29 Aug 2005
6. A
player may not stomp on the floor or shout at an opposing player who is about
to play the ball.
7. If a
ball is played more than once on a side a female must strike the ball before it
goes over the net.
8. The server must wait before the whistle is blown before serving the ball.
8a. The server may catch the ball once before serving.
8b. Let serve. a serve that touches the net, are allowed and is playable - 20 Sep 2004
9. A team
is allowed two 30-second time outs per game. No timeout allowed
10. A match
is three games long and standings are compiled using the total games won not
matches.
11. A player
must turn thirteen years of age as of December 31st of the year they are playing to be eligible to
play.
12. To play a game each Team needs on the court:
12a. Minimum of four players maximum of six players .
12b. At least two females must always be on the court
12c. A maximum of three males.
12d. When placed on the court players do not need to alternate male, female.
12e. Three male players can not be lined up side by side.
12f. Only two male players may be in the front row to block or attack at any time. If a 3rd male comes forward of the ten foot line he can only play the ball below the top plane of the net.
13. On the
serve the ball must be played below the horizontal plane of the top of the net.
14. The Forfeit time for a match will be Scheduled Game Time OR End of 5 minute warm up period if previous match went past scheduled start.
15. All
teams will be allowed a five minute warm up period.
The warm up period will run concurrently with the forfeit time period.
16. A player may play the ball with any part of their body.
17. Rally scoring - Rally scoring will be in effect five (5) minutes before regulation time limit for a match is reached (60 minutes for Division AA or 50 minutes for all other divisions). All match games will be completed.
18. Good Shepherd Gym - Children must be supervised and controlled at all times. Detection of teams violating this policy will forfeit the on-going match and be assessed the $25 league forfeit fee. - 20 Sep 2004
