Ye Banks and Breas O' Bonnie Doon
By Percy Aldridge Grainger

Percy Aldridge Grainger was born in Austrailia in 1882 and began his youthful career playing piano recitals. On the proceeds of these recitals, he was able to travel to Germany and England and subsequently established his reputation as a pianist and composer. His friendshop with Edward Greig roused his interest in folk song, which inspired many of his own popular pieces. His adapatation of the Scottish folk-song Ye Banks and Breas O' Bonnie Doon has become a standard piece in the wind band repertoire.
