Text Box: FROM THE PASTOR- I’ve had the opportunity in recent weeks to observe something wonderful. Several times I have noticed someone in our congregation voice a need—a ride, some necessary (used) equipment, whatever—and before I could give voice to my doubts that someone within our church family could help fulfill their need, someone does. Amazing. Other times, the needs that were expressed were the type that members of the congregation could best help fulfill by praying. As a church, we’ve been praying for health, for strength, for employment, and yes, for housing. And God is answering our prayers! I can’t help but know that I am blessed to be a part of this church! On Sunday, June 29 (which may have passed by the time you receive this newsletter), we will have a commissioning service for the eighteen people from Bixby Knolls Christian Church who will be attending camp at Loch Leven this summer. Most of them belong to families that are active members, while a few are young people who accepted the invitation to join their friends at camp. (See, inviting does work!) In addition, most of them are going as campers, but a few of us (myself included) will be on staff at Junior Camp the last week of July. As the Commissioning liturgy states, we are truly blessed by “the contributions of individuals who make the camp and conference program possible; the time, the imagination, and the money that comes from the people in this congregation and other congregations around us.” I can’t help but know that I am blessed to be a part of this church! As June draws to a close, we know that Vacation Bible School is almost here. I have seen the dedication of some of our V.B.S. leaders as they prepare for a week of fun and spiritual growth. They are getting ready to reach out to the children of our church and community with the love of Christ—and they are counting on you to get the word out to the young people you know, and invite them to be a part of this exciting week. It does take a tremendous amount of work to put V.B.S. together; when I think of all the time and effort that is dedicated to make V.B.S. a success,… I can’t help but know that I am blessed to be a part of this church! If you, like me, know that you’ve been blessed by being a part of this church, I hope you’ll share your experience. I would love to hear how God has blessed you through the ministry of Bixby Knolls Christian Church. More importantly, there are probably people in your life who need to know how you’ve been blessed to be a part of this church … people who are in need of blessings in their own lives, people who need to experience the kind of love that is found here. I hope that you’ll share with them how you’ve been blessed through our ministry, and that you’ll invite them to come with you to church and experience those blessings themselves.
